Maria is a native of Mexico and a graduate from the University of Kentucky. She belongs to several honor societies and has been the recipient of several prizes, including UK's Outstanding Senior Award and the Kentucky Department for the Blind's Vocational Achievement Award, 1999.
She has worked at APH for almost 4 years. During this time she has traveled to more than 25 states and U.S. territories conducting database training and presentations to students, parents, administrators and educators in the field of vision.
