Join Dr. Leslie Kay, inventor of the 'K' Sonar, and APH's Fred Gissoni as they present information and demonstrations of this innovative tool that empowers blind people to make perceptions that reach beyond the tip of a cane!
This presentation will teach participants how to design activities using sensory strategies that allow students with visual and multiple impairments to be more efficient learners.
This presentation will emphasize the importance of early exposure to tactile graphics. Attendees will be introduced to two new products - Web Chase (a board game) and Setting the Stage for Tactile Graphics (a training program) - that can be used to encourage the development of needed hand skills and tactile discrimination abilities that will prepare young children for more complex graphics in the future.
This presentation will provide an update of the projects, products and activities developed in the first year of the APH/CVI project. Special emphasis will be placed on the APH CVI web site. A brief update about additional innovative initiatives for children with CVI will also be presented.
This presentation will describe procedures for ordering braille and large print text books from APH, along with textbook specifications, Promising Practices for Transcribing Early Literacy Textbook and Materials, and training opportunities offered by ATIC. Demonstrations will also be presented on ways to effectively search the Louis Database, the Accessible Media Producers Database (AMP), and how to download files from the APH File Repository.
Book Port training will review the basic functions of the device and introduce new features including audible.com compatibility, audio time and pause compression and braille keyboard fundamentals.
This session will also introduce the long anticipated test creation, management, and administration software, Teacher's Pet. Learn how to create an accessible test and/or drill with multiple answer formats, add sound and graphics to your questions, manage student records, set time limits, and more!
