"Keys to Success"

Keys to Success Annual Meeting 2009 October 15-17

The 141st Annual Meeting of Ex Officio Trustees and Special Guests,
October 15-17, 2009

7/29/2009

Dear Ex Officio Trustees and Special Guests:

Respect. Confidence. Conviction. Spirituality. Giving. Dedication. These six core values, as presented at the Muhammad Ali Center, define the life and success of Louisville native Muhammad Ali and form the foundation for the 141st Annual Meeting of APH Ex Officio Trustees and friends October 15 - 17, 2009 at the historic Seelbach Hotel in downtown Louisville. We hope that you will join us as we strive to find our keys to success with your good guidance and counsel.

This year we will highlight the hard work and determination needed to succeed with those same "Keys To Success." Our invited keynote speaker, Kareem Dale, Special Assistant to the President for Disability Policy, Cum Laude graduate of the University of Illinois with both a law degree and an MBA, and an honor graduate of the Tennessee School for the Blind, will share the story of his success at our Thursday night opening session. The opening session, awards ceremony and reception will be held at the Muhammad Ali Center overlooking the Ohio River. In addition, admission to the Center will be offered free all day to Annual Meeting attendees. Transportation will be available from the Seelbach to the Ali Center for the Thursday evening events.

On Friday evening we will honor our APH InSights Art Award winners and celebrate the addition of two new members to the Hall of Fame for Leaders and Legends of the Blindness Field with the inductions of Euclid Herie and Dean Tuttle.

APH staff members and product authors will provide training sessions and information on new APH products and give you the opportunity to provide input on products in development. An Information Fair will offer posters and demonstrations of new and current APH products, projects, and services. A variety of related meetings will take place before and after Annual Meeting, and this year we'll top it off with a Saturday night event featuring a DJ spinning a wide variety of tunes while you dance the night away or have a chat with your fellow attendees. Enclosed is an Annual Meeting 2009 packet with registration form and hotel flyer. Your registration form should reach APH by September 18, 2009. Please make your reservations with the Seelbach by using the information on the enclosed flyer. Reservations at the Seelbach must also be made by September 18. Space may be limited, so make your reservations early!

We are happy to provide tactile maps of the hotel and orientation to the facility. Please see your registration form to sign up for orientation to the hotel on Wednesday or Thursday. If there are other ways that we can make your stay more enjoyable, please contact APH and we will do our best to accommodate you.

No refunds will be issued for cancellations received after October 5, 2009.

We encourage your active participation in this annual historic meeting that gathers many people of our field in Louisville each year. Please take this opportunity to share in the joy of our common journey.
