Products Across America: Working Together to Build Tools for Learning and Living

The 142nd Annual Meeting of Ex Officio Trustees and Special Guests
American Printing House for the Blind, Inc.
October 14-16, 2010
Galt House Hotel, Louisville, Kentucky

7/28/2010

Dear Ex Officio Trustees and Special Guests:

Have you ever used APH's Picture Maker—or Azer's Interactive Periodic Table? If so, you've benefited from one of our many products developed from YOUR great ideas. Please join us as we celebrate this outstanding partnership that provides these essential tools at the 2010 Annual Meeting of APH Ex Officio Trustees and friends October 14–16, 2010, at the newly-renovated Galt House Hotel and Suites on the Ohio River in downtown Louisville.

This year we will highlight the tools for learning and living that benefit children and adults with blindness and visual impairment. Our keynote speaker is Jim Gibbons, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries International, Inc., and a former president and CEO of National Industries for the Blind (NIB). Mr. Gibbons is a veteran speaker, guest lecturer, and information resource for educators, advocates, and journalists. He has been featured in more than 100 national and regional media outlets including The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune, CNN, and ABC News.

On Thursday evening, we will kick-off APH's 142nd Annual Meeting. On Friday evening, we will honor our APH InSights Art Award winners and celebrate the addition of two new members to the Hall of Fame for Leaders and Legends of the Blindness Field with the inductions of Seeing Eye's Morris Frank and AFB's M.C. Migel.

The focus of Annual Meeting is, as always, information on products made available through the Act to Promote the Education of the Blind. APH staff members and product authors will provide training sessions and information on new APH products and give you the opportunity to provide input on products in development. An Information Fair will offer posters and demonstrations of new and current APH products, projects, and services. A variety of related meetings will take place before and after Annual Meeting, and this year, back by popular demand, we'll top it off with a Saturday night river boat dinner cruise!

Enclosed is an Annual Meeting 2010 registration packet with a registration form and hotel flyer. Your registration form should reach APH by September 17, 2010. Please make your reservations with the Galt House by using the information on the enclosed flyer. Reservations at the Galt House must also be made by September 19. Space may be limited, so make your reservations early!

We are happy to provide tactile maps of the hotel and orientation to the facility. Please see your registration form to sign up for orientation to the hotel on Wednesday or Thursday. If there are other ways we can make your stay more enjoyable, please contact us and we will do our best to accommodate you.

No refunds will be issued for cancellations received after October 5, 2010.

We encourage your active participation in this annual historic meeting that gathers many people of our field in Louisville each year. Please take this opportunity to share in the joy of our common journey.
