  • "Moving with Grace: Improving Motor Skills for Children with Visual Impairments"

    This presentation will share the research findings to date of a national study on gross motor development , along with hopes for a future curriculum and instructional video related to this research.   • "Adult Multiple Disabilities: Preliminary Results of a Product Needs Survey"

    Are your adult clients with visual impairments and additional disabilities living in an apartment on their own, living with family, or enjoying life in a group home? Do they have supported, extended, or competitive employment? APH wants to help adults—of any age—continue to learn and take advantage of a fun and fulfilling life. This session will present the preliminary results of an adult product needs survey created by a June, 2011 focus group. Come help APH set a path to better meet the needs of this growing population.
  • "The Boehm-3 Preschool: A Thoroughbred in the Making"

    The DNA-RNA Kit, which demonstrates DNA replication and the formation of RNA from DNA (transcription), will be discussed. Ideas will be solicited for the development of a related model that demonstrates the next part of the gene expression process—translation—or how DNA codes for proteins via an RNA messenger.

From the starting gate, the decision was made to utilize Android as the operating system that controls the rest of the software on the device. Reasons and implications of this decision will be discussed, and the presentation will also outline the custom applications developed for the platform and describe the benefits of taking the custom software approach. In an exciting finish, the presenter will show some of the apps in action and describe what the future holds for this exciting new device.
