Dear Ex Officio Trustees and Special Friends:
We're moving back to the historic Brown Hotel for the 134th Annual Meeting, and eagerly await your participation October 10 through 13, 2002. As always, we rely on your advice and counsel to help us set our future course.
The theme of this year's program, "Sharing the Memory, Shaping the Dream," will be set at the Thursday evening opening session, facilitated by Dr. Phil Hatlen (Ex Officio Trustee, TX). The focus of the evening will be the celebration of the living legends of the Hall of Fame for Leaders and Legends of the Blindness Field. We anticipate the following legends to participate in the event: Samuel Ashcroft, Natalie Barraga, Cleo Dolan, Ruth Kaarlela, Alice Raftary, Stanley Suterko, Louis Vieceli, and Donald Wedewer. While we have Dr. Ashcroft at APH, we plan to take full advantage of this legend who served as our first Director of the Educational Research and Development, by asking him to participate in the 50th birthday of the department. Additionally, we will again offer the poster session and product focus sessions that were so well received last year.
