Hundreds of textbooks created using APH’s exclusive accessibility process are available for purchase through the File Repository of the Louis Database. Books are in PDF format and may be read on Kindle®, iPad®, laptop, or many other digital readers.

APH digital large print textbooks feature the complete content of the original print edition, formatted for improved accessibility using APH’s proprietary in-house process. All textbooks use a minimum 18-pt. font, enlarged images, and a color palette designed for accessibility and clarity. The digital format provides greater portability and convenience for the user. How do I find digital large print files?

How are these digital files priced?
The pricing varies on the large print e-files, but averages about 40% less than our hard cover large print books. All prices are listed on the Louis records.
Can Quota funds be used to pay for the digital large print files?
Yes, Federal Quota funds can be used to pay for these files.
Can I place an order for a large print textbook that APH does not currently offer and purchase only the digital large print file?
No. An order for a large print title that APH does not carry must be placed for the hard copy format. Once we have created the hard copy large print book, it will then be available to all customers in either hard copy or digital file format. Hundreds of existing large print titles are now available in the digital format.
Who can access the digital large print files?
Anyone can search the repository for the files, but due to copyright restrictions, only Ex Officio Trustees (EOTs) will be granted authorization to download APH large print electronic files, intended solely for use by registered students.
After I purchase a digital large print file, can I use it multiple times?
Yes, files can be used multiple times, but only by 1 student at a time.
Can I use the digital large print file to print a hard-copy book?
No printing of these files is permitted.

The files are in a PDF format and may be read on the iPad®, iPod®, and Kindle® devices. The files may also be read on laptops and other digital devices that can open PDF documents.
How do I get digital large print files loaded on a student’s device?
APH suggests using the free program/app Dropbox™. The program can be loaded onto your PC or Mac, along with the Dropbox app on the student’s device. You can then quickly transfer files from your computer to the student’s. Or there is the option to email a Dropbox link to the student and they can download the file by clicking on the link and accessing the Dropbox website.
