This short video (approximately 15 minutes) addresses the definition, symptoms and intervention techniques that prove successful with young children who are diagnosed with Cortical Visual Impairment and ocular or motor impairments, as well.

This video specifically addresses the symptoms of CVI in children as expressed in their mothers' words. Using positioning to enhance visual attention, this video discusses the definition of positioning for functional vision and the positions themselves. They show a progression of intervention strategies: visual stimulation, appropriate presentation of the chosen stimuli, using functional and meaningful objects, appropriate surfaces, and using switches to begin the process of cause and effect, giving the child some control over their environment.

Other things presented alert the viewer to appropriate lighting, delayed response time, using better sides to introduce information, etc. This video encourages a quiet atmosphere and working on depth perception.

All in all, the video addresses parents' understanding of areas that are problematic for children who have CVI and then provides useful information on definitions, materials and techniques in a very understandable dialog.
