Karen is a Research Associate and Tactile Graphics Project Leader in the Educational Research Department. Her background is in the area of Psychology, with additional courses in Visual Impairment. She has been an employee of APH since 1986. Notable areas of expertise include the following: Early Childhood Tactile Graphics; Science Materials; Recreational Materials and Visual/Tactile Materials for APH Light Boxes.

Products authored and developed include the following: Tactile Treasures: Math and Language Concepts for Young Children with Visual Impairments; Beginner's Abacus: Instructions for Use; Adaptation of Brain Quest®: Science, American History, Geography, and English: 1000 Questions and Answers (Large Type and Braille Editions); APH Score Card; Sense of Science: Plants; Analysis of the Distribution of Quota Registrants (1990 and 1995); Tactile Demonstration Thermometer; Feel 'n Peel Stickers; U.S. Puzzle Map; IntelliTactiles: Standard Overlay Companions; Picture Maker: Wheatley Tactile Diagramming Kit; and Quick-Draw Paper.
