The APH Facebook “Like Us” Contest!

Winner Announced!

Congratulations to Nanci Durler of Franklin, Massachusetts, winner of the APH Facebook “Like Us” Contest, Summer 2012! Nanci’s name was chosen in a random drawing at the closing session of the APH Annual Meeting on October 13. Nanci is the mother of twin boys, Liam and Jakob, who are both legally blind. She says they “love APH products!”

Nanci says of her boys:

“In 2006, the greatest joys of my life entered the world 4 months premature: my sons Jakob and Liam. Their stay in the NICU was 5+ months and came with devastating news — a diagnosis for both at 32 weeks gestation of retinopathy of prematurity. After multiple surgeries and many months, Jakob now has a prosthetic left eye and 20/2400 in the right eye, while Liam also has a prosthetic left eye and only light perception in the right.

“We were blessed to have such talented clinicians enter their lives before school age through early intervention services. The clinicians brought with them APH products and toys, teaching us how to play with and teach our children. Jakob has developed a love for reading and computers and can't get enough materials. Liam is the musician in the family, playing Mozart on the piano at age 3.

“They have been fortunate enough to attend the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, MA since the age of 3. Now 6 years old, they are thriving at the best learning institution, and have again been blessed to be surrounded by so many dedicated, talented clinicians and teachers. They continue to amaze me every day and I can't wait to see what the future brings to these two amazing boys!”

Nanci will receive a $250 gift certificate to spend on APH products of her choosing. Thank you to everyone who has “liked” us!
