Description: This picture is a black and white photograph of a small wooded area in the park. On the right side of the page, one sees the trunks of four trees. Beneath the trees, various leafy plants are growing. Tall bushes surround the trees. There are two images of this scene. One is in high contrast form, while the other appears as a photographic negative image with tactile qualities. This "negative" effect causes the colors in the images to be reversed. For instance, in the first picture, the trunks of the trees look white with dark shading around the far edges. In the second picture, the trunks look black with white shading around the far edges. They are mounted one above the other. The technique used by the artist to produce these images was unusual. First, the artist decided the competition of the picture by visiting the park and exploring the area by touch. Next, he aimed the camera at the area he thought was most interesting and took the photograph. The first picture was printed in high-contrast form so it would be accessible to those with low vision. The final image was printed in negative form on special paper that created raised lines and forms so that the image could be viewed by touch.
