Description: The artist has drawn the head and arm of a woman with pencil. Her eyes are almost completely closed and she is resting her head on her arm, as though she is dreaming. The pencil was used to create a wide range of black, white and gray tones. The shading accents the woman's high cheekbone, the arch of her brow and her long, slender neck. The combination of the shading and the elegant lines created by the arrangement of the head and arm adds great drama to what might otherwise have been a very mundane pose.
