Paper Pulp over String, Crayon

Size in inches: 11 high by 11 wide
Artist: Brent Kessler
Price: $55.00

Description: String was placed on a flat surface. The string was formed into the outline of the head and shoulders of a man, in profile. Damp paper pulp was placed on top of the string. Light brown pulp was put into the area that outlined the head and shoulders. A little white and blue pulp was added in the area of the eye and a bit of yellow was put on the neck. Pink, blue, and yellow pulp was spread on the rest of the surface. Once all the pulp was in place, it was pressed to flatten it out and dried to make a sheet of very thick paper. Once it was dry, the string was removed, leaving a thin groove where the string had been. The groove became the outline of the head of a blue-eyed Egyptian wearing a gold collar, standing in front of a rainbow colored wall.
