Description: This carved limestone piece is a study in contrasts. About twenty-six inches tall at its peak, it slopes quickly down to about 6 inches on one side. The top of the form is sharp flat angles and carefully sanded, smooth shapes that give way to a rough, chopped- off surface on the far side, then fade into rounded forms near the base. About a third of the way up the sculpture, the artist has cut a hole all the way through, so that one can see parts of these various surfaces no matter which side one views.
