Girl Scout Interest Projects
Girl Scouts can fulfill the requirements for the MUSEUM DISCOVERY interest project while they learn about what it takes to create and run a museum. Our small size makes this easy. Girls can pitch in on a project that will help the Museum serve the blind community or sign up with us to work as a volunteer aide or an intern. They will:
- Take a behind-the-scenes tour of the Museum.
- Find out about how we make our museum accessible to people with disabilities.
- Find out how we preserve papers, videotapes, photos and other museum artifacts.
- Let us help you facilitate an activity for younger Girl Scouts.
- Find out about three museum-based careers: curator, educator, and exhibit preparer.
- Shadow one of the Museum staff members for a day.
We can also help girls earn some of the requirements for the LURE of LANGUAGE interest project and the INVENTIONS AND INQUIRY interest project.
