An exhibit from the Callahan Museum of the American Printing House for the Blind
The exhibit of historic schools was developed from the archival collection of the Callahan Museum and researched by museum staff. The images are from postcards, photographs, and published engravings. There are sixty-one schools listed in the exhibit and most are represented by pictures. The twenty-seven extant buildings are noted, and of these, eight are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
A braille book accompanies the exhibit. It contains descriptions of the illustrated buildings and all of the factual information in the exhibit. A small desk where the reader may sit to read the braille book is a part of the exhibit.
Space and setup requirements:The exhibit requires a space of about (8' x 13') 100 sq. ft. It measures 2' x 9'. Two people can set up the exhibit. It is packed in two large and one small plastic shipping boxes.
Cost: Six week rental of the exhibit $500, includes shipping.
