Marbled paper over boards with leather spine and corners. Museum has volume 2 only of the 8 volume set. " . . . executed for the American Bible Society under the direction of S. G. Howe at the institution for the Blind, Boston. S. P. Ruggles, artist 1842" --t.p. Contents: Numbers through Samuel. Samuel Gridley Howe reported in 1836 that the entire New Testament was in press. It was being embossed with aid from the American Bible Society ($1200), the Massachusetts Bible Society ($1000), Ladies Bible Society ($800), and an individual donor ($250). In 1842, the entire Bible was completed, condensed to eight volumes, and sold for $20 per set.
