"William Moon (1818-1894) was the inventor of an embossed type known as Moon's type for the blind. His system, according to the Dictionary of Natl. Biography, employed only 9 characters, & Moon felt it was simpler than Frere's system. Moon developed a method of stereotyping his works, his supply of type being insufficient. He embossed & published this 14th chapter of the Gospel according to St. John in 8 languages, including Arabic." --bookdealer |
