Description The photo is mounted on a gray card with a raised floral border. "St. Louis Portrait Co., 125 1/2 Salem Av. Roanoke, Va." is impressed in the bottom right corner of the card. The back is blank. The photo shows a middle-aged man with glasses and closed eyes reading an open book with his fingertips. He is standing behind a small table with a fringed cloth. The book is resting on the table top. A young boy is standing to the left of the man, and his right hand is touching the edge of the book. The man is wearing a white-collar shirt with tie and a matching vest and jacket. A small pin is attached to the left lapel. He has short hair and a full mustache. The boy's short hair is parted in the middle. He is wearing lace-up boots, leggings, knee-length pants, a white-collar shirt with bow tie, and a double-breasted jacket. A chain hangs from his left lapel. Stains on card; foxing on photo; small tear at top left edge of photo and on back of card; edges of card are worn.
