Description Bookbinding spine chase; appears custom made; trapezoidal foot screwed to base; far jaw on table fixed, near jaw adjusts with wood handled screw, secured on track on sides of table.

Provenance/History Used to set type to print book covers on the spine. According to Ron Gadson, "Used to apply gold leaf labeling to the spines of bookcases. The type was set by hand and the type chase was slid into a case stamping machine." Probably custom made, either for APH locally, but more likely directly in the APH machine shop.
