Description Beige plastic case with aluminum trimmed window on angled front; ribbed platen knobs on either side; printed paper roll inside, "Science II Lesson--Programmed Teaching Course, 1962"; question window on left, answer window on right; ivory plastic crank on front right of case; top of unit hinged on back; white rubber feet; silver sticker on left front, "EAP"; use instructions glued inside top.

Provenance/History The Educational Research Dept. at APH, headed by Dr. Carson Nolan, worked in the 1970s to adapt/use commercially available products to the needs of the visually impaired. The department acquired this teaching machine to study, although nothing was developed from it. Copyright dates on the lesson range from 1962 to 1973. The 1976 (#108) APH annual report describes an educational research and development project to "review currently available self-instructional teaching systems" (p. 22).
