Description 
The braille writer weighs approximately 15 pounds and has a metal body with textured black finish. It uses 12-inch wide paper that remains flat during brailling. The carriage moves from right to left. The keys are a black plastic-type of material. On the top is a transparent label with yellow print which reads: "Braille Institute of America Inc., BIA, Portable Braille Writer, pat. pend." The carrying case weighs approximately 4 pounds. It has a black textured finish, leather handle, and metal corner reinforcements. The Braille Institute of America logo and the words "Portable Braille Writer" are on the front. The lid is removable and a metal spring clip is attached to the inside to hold paper. The bottom of the case serves as the base for the braille writer.
