Provenance/History The American Braille Press was founded in Paris, France in 1925, an outgrowth of the Permanent Blind War Relief Fund which was formed during WWI. Helen Keller served on its board. The Press changed its name in 1946 to the American Foundation for Overseas Blind and became closely associated with the American Foundation for the Blind. AFOB became Helen Keller International in 1977.
