Description Handi-Cassette, GE 3-5184; charcoal plastic case with black plastic sides and black inset plate on front; chrome plated aluminum buttons with raised symbols on left side: pause, stop-eject, forward, reverse, play, and record; condenser microphone with bright grill above buttons on left; front has cassette door with clear window, slotted for motion sensing on one drive wheel; front also has toggle for microphone sensitivity, and two slide switches for variable speed and pitch control; right side has AC-DC jack , slide toggles for tape side, and speed, and an indexing button; top has toggle for variable speech pitch control, rotary volume dial, and jacks for remote microphone, remote control, and earphone; back has speaker grill and battery compartment; original styrofoam shipping container holds black plastic AC-DC power supply and lightweight headphones; APH logo in white on cassette door; serial# 93038804.

Provenance/History Introduced in 1990 as a more compact and portable version of the APH desk-top model. Replaced in 1996 by the Handi-Cassette II. Used either a Nickel-Cadmium rechargable battery pack, or (4) four AA batteries. This unit was loaned to customers whose players were being serviced by the APH Product Repair Department.
