Description 
Original pen and ink drawings made by free lance artist, Richard Bartlett of East Bridgewater, MA, for publication in the booklet "American Printing House for the Blind, Inc. (1858-1960): A Century of Service to the Blind," an address given by William C. Dabney, president of the APH Board of Trustees and a Newcomen Society member, at the March 10, 1960 Kentucky Dinner of the Newcomen Society of North America, held at the Flag Room of the Kentucky Hotel. The Newcomen Society published the booklet which was printed for Newcomen Publications by Princeton University Press. Drawings show scenes of the American Printing House for the Blind at different times in the company's history. The drawings, which are attached to white picture mats, are briefly described below: .1 - Original 1883 APH building; 10.5 x 8.75 in. (sheet), 7.25 x 6 in. (comp.) .2 - [Employees using APH printing press circa 1875]; 9.5 x 10.5 in. (sheet), 5.75 x 7.5 in. (comp.). This drawing was not published in the booklet. .3 - Bindery Department, circa1910; 9 x 10.5 in. (sheet), 6 x 7.5 in. (comp.) .4 - Printing Department, circa 1910 (shows employee using press); 9 x 10.5 in. (sheet) , 7.5 x 6.25 in (comp.) .5 - Present Administration Building, ca. 1960; 9.5 x 10.5 in (sheet), 5.75 x 7.5 in. (comp.) .6 - Section of APH Bindery, circa 1960; 9.5 x 10.5 in. (sheet), 6.7.5 x 7.5 in. (comp.) .7 - Printing large type books for partially-visioned children; 9.5. x 10.5 in. (sheet), 7 x 7.5 in. (comp.) .8 - Pressing a Talking Book record, circa 1960; 10.5 x 9 in. (sheet), 6.5 x 6.25 in. (comp.)
