| On the front of the postcard is a color-tinted photo of the multistoried school building. A cupola and two spires are visible. The view of the building is partially blocked by trees. Green lawn is in the foreground. Beneath the photo is printed "Columbus, Ohio. Institution for the Blind." The publisher's logo, approximately 1/4 in. square, is printed in the lower left corner. The back is not divided and is unused. Printed along the left edge is "Raphael Tuck & Sons "RaphoType" [regd] Postcard No. 5317. "Columbus, Ohio." Art Publishers To Their Majesties The King & Queen." The same logo that is printed on the front of the card is printed in the bottom left corner. A coat of arms with a lion and unicorn is printed in the upper left corner, approximately 1/2 in. square. "Printed in Holland" is at the bottom left edge. "The Institution for the Blind is in the eastern part of the city on the site of the old building. It is a stone structure in the Gothic style of the Tudor period. It accomodates over 300 students, and has a library of about 4,000 volumes. The grounds and buildings are valued at $ 500, 000."--back of postcard. |
