| Front shows a black & white photo of men and women holding baby chicks at the Red Cross Institute for the Blind. Back is divided and unused. "New Colonists Arriving at the Poultry Department.--Each pupil is following the professor's instructions in the examination of the little 'chicks' which have just arrived, previous to their being placed in brooders heated by coal stoves which are operated by the blind men." --back of postcard. The Red Cross Institute for the Blind was established in 1917, during World War I, to provide rehabilitation and vocational training to servicemen blinded during the war. |
