Admin/Biog History The California Institution for the Education of the Deaf and Dumb, and the Blind was established in 1860 and was first located in San Francisco. It moved into new buildings in 1869, in an area north of Oakland that would later become Berkeley. The school's name was changed to the California Institution for the Deaf and Blind in 1906. In 1914, it became the California School for the Deaf and Blind. The California School for the Blind became a separate school through legislation passed in 1921. It relocated to Fremont, CA in 1980.

Custodial History Reports were collected by the Migel Library of the American Foundation for the Blind, which closed in 2009. In that year, the American Printing House for the Blind purchased the holdings of the Migel Library and annual reports were transferred to the APH Museum.

Abstract Reports of the California School for the Blind document the school's management, building, and student activities. They list the administration, staff, and students by name. A financial report of receipts and disbursements is included. The 1928 report has a fold-out illustration of a sketch for the new dormitory for boys. Photo illus. are included the 1930 report.
