Admin/Biog History The Institute for the Blind, Deaf and Dumb opened in St. Augustine, Florida, in 1885. It was renamed School for Blind, Deaf and Dumb in 1903. Then, in 1905, the original name was restored. In 1967, it became the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind.

Custodial History Reports were sent to the Kentucky School for the Blind and were kept there until being transferred to the Callahan Museum in 1996.

Abstract Printed reports of the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind documenting the school's management, building, and student activities. Reports list the school's officers, staff, and students, the school's financial receipts and disbursements, and include black-and-white illus. An 1885 4-page "Report of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction" includes a brief paragraph about the school.
