Admin/Biog History The Kansas State School for the Blind was established in 1867 and opened in 1868, in Wyandotte, which later became part of Kansas City. The name of the school changed from Asylum for the Blind to Kansas Institution for the Education of the Blind in 1877, and to Kansas State School for the Visually Handicapped in 1969. During the Kansas Legislative Session of 1992, the official name became Kansas State School for the Blind.

Custodial History Reports were collected by the Migel Library of the American Foundation for the Blind, which closed in 2009. In that year, the American Printing House for the Blind purchased the holdings of the Migel Library and annual reports were transferred to the APH Museum.

Abstract Printed reports of the Kansas State School for the Blind documenting the school's management, building, and student activities. Reports list the school's officers and staff, and include lists of financial receipts and disbursements. Some include a list of students and alumni, and black-and-white photo illus. Title varies slightly; see container list.
