Description 
Printed reports of the Louisiana School for the Visually Impaired, documenting the school's management, building, and student activities. Reports list the school's officers, staff, and students, and the school's financial receipts and disbursements. A raised letter specimen embossed by students in the school's printing department, established in 1859, is inserted loose in the 1859 report. The Act of Incorporation is included in the 1873 and several subsequent reports. 1878 and 1879 reports include tables with headings: Blind of Louisiana, United States Census 1870; List of Celebrated Blind Persons; Proportion of Blind to Entire Population [worldwide]; and Principle Occupations, which have been successfully followed by the blind. The 1916 report (for years 1913-1916) was the first issued since 1906. It includes black-and-white photo illus. and the National Committee for the Prevention of Blindness publication "Concerning Common Causes of Blindness in Children and The Means and Methods of Prevention."
