American Printing House for the Blind, Inc. selects new Vice President of Products and Services

News Release: Louisville, Kentucky, February 5, 2002

The American Printing House for the Blind, Inc. (APH) has promoted Robert B. Brasher to the position of Vice President of Products and Services. As head of this Division of the company, he will be responsible for directing and coordinating the activities of the departments of Educational and Advisory Services, Resource Services, Accessible Textbook Initiative and Collaboration (ATIC), and Communications.

Employed at APH since 1998 as Director of Educational and Advisory Services, Mr. Brasher has extensive knowledge of APH products and services. He had worked in the vision field for over three decades and was an Ex Officio Trustee of APH for sixteen years before joining the staff of APH. Mr. Brasher was responsible for coordinating the training of and communication with the 161 APH Ex Officio Trustees who administer the Federal Quota program within their various states or regions; conducting the annual Federal Quota Census of eligible blind students; presenting workshops on APH products and services; coordinating creation of catalogs and product literature, and participating in the identification and refinement of new product ideas. He established three federal initiatives to disseminate information about APH products and services:

  1. National Instructional Partnership
  2. Product information and Training Materials Project
  3. Collaborative instructional Project with Teacher Training Programs

Mr. Brasher came to APH from Arkansas where he worked for the State Department of Education/ School for the Blind as Director of Educational Services for the Visually Impaired.

Mr. Brasher has a Masters of Science Degree from Florida State University in Tallahassee, with a major in Clinical and Professional Services, Visually Impaired, and a minor in Educational Administration. He has served on numerous committees for national organizations and received several awards for his contributions to the field.
