New Board Member at APH

News Release: Louisville, Kentucky, July 15, 1997

Charles C. Barr, M.D., has joined the board of trustees at the American Printing House for the Blind (APH). Barr is a professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Louisville, where he also serves as Director of Retina Service and Director of Resident Education.

Barr is a member of the American Medical Association and is a fellow in the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons. He has served on the Medical Advisory Committee for the National Society to Prevent Blindness (KY) and on the Advisory Committee for Visually Impaired Preschool Services in Louisville.

APH's board of trustees sets policy and provides direction for the world's largest company devoted solely to making products for people who are visually impaired. Founded in 1858, it is the oldest institution of its kind in the United States. APH's mission is to promote the independence of blind people by providing special media, tools, and materials needed for education and life.
