The American Printing House for the Blind gives serious consideration to ideas for products that improve the lives of persons who are blind and visually impaired. We are especially interested in product ideas that support Core and/or Expanded Core Curricula, since both are essential to the education of students and clients who are blind or visually impaired.

Potential products could address such areas as:

What need does your product address? Be specific. Include indication of target group(s) for product.

How the product promotes good educational principles? Provide details of any experiments and testing you have done.

While high quality research is important to assure the product meets appropriate educational practices, we do not assume your product idea has been subjected to rigorous research at the time of submission. Indicate any research you may be aware of by explaining the type of research (foundational, basic, applied) conducted, and including any appropriate references, citations, and/or copies of any testing, experiments, or other research that has been conducted.

If further research is needed, would you be interested in assisting? If not could you recommend someone?

List any potential markets you have identified for the product (target audiences).

Provide information about the cost to acquire the rights to produce or distribute the product.

Describe your vision of what the product will look like.

What media types do you expect the product will work with? (e.g. Braille, large print, CD, regular print, tactile graphics, etc.).

List suggested product components. (e.g. Guidebooks, instructions, binder, storage compartment, labels for CDs, videos, etc. Include information regarding accompanying support materials such as a teacher's guide.).
