Transcriber’s Notes

This book was transcribed according to the rules of The Nemeth Braille Code for Mathematics and Science Notation, 1972 Revision.

This volume has been transcribed according to the provisional guidelines for Transcribing Early Literacy Materials (January 2005) set forth by the American Printing House for the Blind (APH).

All unnecessary answer blanks and drawing spaces have been omitted from the braille edition.

Braille italics (46) are used for all simple emphasis, including underlined words, unless more than one emphasis is used within the item in question.

More than one blank in an exercise is represented by placing the number of blanks within brackets [ ] in braille.

Example: Page 4, "Kyla’s mom was making her breakfast. She could choose one food item and one drink item this morning. List all of her choices for breakfast. [7]"

Text may be changed within a problem in order to clarify tactile placement.

Example: Page 14, item 4: "…Let’s look at the candy bagged from our Candy Counts activity." Is changed to "…Let’s look at the candy bagged from our Candy Counts activity on the next page."
