Lesson Plan Goal

Increase participants’ ability to incorporate developmentally appropriate literacy activities into routines for their infants, toddlers and very young children who are blind or have low vision.

Learning Objectives

  1. Utilize the “It Makes Sense to Me” sensory checklist to identify 3 literacy-related sensory features that would be interesting to a child based on the results.
  2. Name 3 adaptations that can be made to an existing book. 
  3. Name 3 early literacy ideas and their uses from the Laptime and Lullabies Kit.
  4. Name 3 APH products that support early literacy experiences.
  5. Identify at least 2 funding sources that could support the acquisition of materials for early literacy experiences.
