How We Can Help

At APH, we empower organizations to break down accessibility barriers and create welcoming environments that support individuals who are blind or low vision.

Types of Consulting

  • Digital Accessibility
  • Tactile Communication & Access
  • CareerConnect
  • Accessibility Evaluation: Our team of experts conducts thorough assessments of websites, documents, and apps to identify accessibility barriers and compliance gaps. We utilize industry-standard evaluation criteria, such as WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines), Android and Apple accessibility guidelines, and deliver detailed reports that highlight issues and recommended solutions.

Collaborative Support: We work closely with your company and provide guidance and support to your software development team, quality assurance team, or the organization. Our goal is to help integrate accessibility best practices into your existing workflows and processes.

Accessible Technology Training: To empower your team with the skills and knowledge needed to create and maintain accessible digital content, we provide comprehensive training on accessible technology, including screen readers, keyboard navigation, and other assistive technologies.

  • Tactile Graphics Development

This is an exciting time for new assistive technology. With the introduction of refreshable braille devices, such as the APH Monarch, users who are blind or low vision have instant access to exponentially more information than ever before, and there is a tremendous need for a wide variety of tactile graphics to accompany the braille.

APH is helping to fill that need by working with various publishers to develop a massive, first of its kind, Tactile Graphics Image Library (TGIL).

APH expertise is available to other organizations to help build this access.

    Test Assessments

APH works with assessment publishers to develop benchmarking assessments. Some of the work that can be done includes but is not limited to:

    • Optimizing tactile graphics for emboss on demand as well as on the Monarch
    • Including consultation on what graphics need to be adapted and what can be supported through other access (ex alt tagging)
    • Creation, or support of creation, of a library system for teachers to access needed graphics during the assessment, like a TGIL
    • Inclusion of braille in the codes that support your learner needs (UEB, Nemeth, Math Science technical, Foreign Languages)
    • Evaluation for accessible use for test administrators
