Beyond the Code: Fostering Literacy, Social Skills, and Independence with KaiBot Robotics

Using tactile robotics to strengthen the Expanded Core Curriculum and student independence, this Passport to Innovation session will explore how robotics can be far more than a coding activity. When designed with accessibility in mind, KaiBot can become a powerful instructional tool for building skills across the curriculum and Expanded Core Curriculum.  

Drawing on real-world experience using KaiBot with students, presenters will share activities, instructional strategies, and creative ways educators can incorporate robotics into meaningful learning experiences while encouraging collaboration and independence. Attendees will leave with practical ideas for using KaiBot not simply to teach coding, but as an accessible instructional tool that supports student learning, participation, and independence across multiple skill areas.
