CloseMaking Holiday Travel Easier with Monarch
A leading force for accessibility and innovation, Monarch has raised the standards for accessible technology in and out of the classroom. Bringing users access to multi-line displays, thousands of tactile graphics, and creating the opportunity for gamified learning, is just the beginning of how Monarch can transform access in daily life. Don’t miss out on the benefits of bringing Monarch along this holiday season.
On the Go
Monarch’s portable design makes it the perfect device to take along with you in the car, on a train, or on a plane. “It’s not any heavier than a big laptop, and it fits right in my backpack,” said APH’s Technology Product Specialist, Jennifer Wenzel. “I pull it out of my bag for airport screening, and people are usually excited to learn what it is. I really love to introduce people to Monarch.” Wenzel, who travels often with the device, has found that traveling with Monarch makes doing the things she loves easier on the go. Pulling the device out from her seat, Wenzel is able to read, play games, and check emails, wherever she goes. While accessible technology can sometimes require multiple pieces and large bags to carry them, Monarch’s size is comparable to transporting a large laptop. Thanks to the many applications on the device, each created for an easy user experience and continual use, there is no running out of things to do with Monarch. From downloading books, to playing chess, Monarch allows for accessible entertainment on the go, without having to set up large devices or travel with multiple pieces of technology.
Making a Connection
Monarch is here to make the holidays, full of connection with friends and family, easier than ever. There are so many ways to utilize the design and applications on Monarch with others! Users can open up the Victor Reader application with hundreds of titles ready to download through online libraries, like Bookshare, to read individually or in a group. “I love being able to go from checking my emails, right to reading before bed,” said Wenzel. One student started a family book club, downloading the text on her Monarch, and followed along seamlessly thanks to the ease of reading on a multi-line display. Other users have gathered around Monarch to play “Pictionary” with the WingIt app. Simply have someone pull up the application on their iOS device and join in guessing the drawing as a tactile image forms across the Monarch screen.
As you prepare for the holidays, consider the ways bringing a Monarch along can make for a smoother, easier, and more enjoyable travel season. With free applications loaded right into a portable device, Monarch is the perfect application for keeping accessible gaming, reading, and internet browsing at your fingertips, wherever you go.
