2019 was a year of momentum for APH. We announced the Helen Keller Archives would move to APH, we successfully spun off Access Explorer, we launched the Braille Trail Reader, and Code Jumper won a Best of Innovation award at CES. As APH looks to 2020, we’re ready to break down more barriers and continue to push the boundaries of accessible technology.

To help APH continue to grow and innovate, Greg Stilson, a leader in accessible technology, has joined the American Printing House (APH) team.

“In his new role at APH Greg will be looking to the future of APH’s product line and how our products can make a global impact, particularly in the areas where educational barriers continue to stubbornly persist,“ says APH CEO, Craig Meador. “Greg is experienced, has a passion for serving in education, and has a drive to create real impact in his work. We are looking for leaders that know how to partner with others to create real change.  That is the future of our organization and we are excited that  people are gravitating to APH because they know this is a place they can make a real difference in the world.”

As Head of Global Innovation, Greg will work on building a product line around Code Jumper, solving the difficulties that surround teaching braille math in a digital format, providing digital textbooks and tactile content (information) to students on day one, and paving the way in digital wayfinding so that all public spaces can be navigated independently.

Greg’s accomplishments and skillset give him the expertise needed to continue pushing innovation at APH. He was the product manager who developed the revolutionary BrailleNote Touch and the Brailliant product line. Greg developed the Trek line, and he worked with Aira on their Horizon Smart Glasses. At Aira Greg promoted their platform at organizations across the country, including APH, where Aira and APH continue to partner to provide free Aira serves for visitors to the APH Museum.

Greg is passionate about education. He remembers the access challenges he faced as a student who was blind, and has been gravitating back toward creating products that would help those students.

“I love this new role because of the incredible opportunity offered by APH to have a positive impact on improving methods and products to help students who are blind and visually impaired learn foundational literacy skills, access STEM content, and improve their technology toolbox,” says Greg. “Since working on the BrailleNote Touch project, I have had a passion for working with students and solving the hard problems.”

Part of Greg’s new role will be listening closely to customers. We hope you’ll stop by the APH booth to meet him at conferences, and be sure to say hello or send him feedback at gstilson@aph.org.
