APH is always working to improve what already exists as we produce new technology and products to ensure we are serving the blind or low vision community in the best way possible. After listening to the people who interact with these products each day and with technology that is ever-changing, there is always room for improvement. We strive to keep you informed about any and all updates or enhancements to our products  

Room with a View – A new, interactive kit that helps students who are blind or low vision build foundational map-reading skills by connecting 3D room models with 2D tactile maps in combination with actual indoor surroundings, the Room with a View kit serves as a tool for practicing and demonstrating basic spatial vocabulary and concepts such as “next to,” “between,” “near,” “behind,” and “through.” In addition to guided exploration, learners can independently construct their own tactile room layouts. This kit is designed to help students who are blind or low vision develop important map-reading skills and spatial concepts through hands-on exploration.    

Grid and Go is a versatile collection of foam grids available in different configurations, sizes, colors, and thicknesses. These grids support a wide variety of teaching goals including orientation and mobility, spatial understanding, sensory efficiency, math and science, literacy, and even recreational games. A new product, Grid and Go can be used in combination with common felt boards available from APH including the Picture Maker storage boardAll-in-One Board, and Trifold Board, or with any other hook-receptive surfaces available in the classroom.  

MathBuilders: Statistics – This modernized math program includes a variety of manipulatives, an updated teachers guide available for download, and digital worksheets in both UEB and large print. MathBuilders: Statistics is a supplementary math program for young blind or low vision learners in grades K-3 that introduces data collection, graphing, probability, and statistics. Separated into eight units by content standards and grade level, this new program allows the teacher to focus on specific standards or provide remedial material for individual students. 

Wilson Reading System IV – The first and only accessible remedial reading program available for blind or low vision students, the Wilson Reading System IV is the newest version of the program which is used throughout general education. A 12-step curriculum that’s split into three different phases, each of which utilize a few different accessories, Wilson Reading System IV follows along with student materials across the system such as magnets and card sets. Along with creating large print and braille copies of the student facing curriculum, each of these accessories are also available in large print and braille through the APH store
