Outreach Specialist:
Alicia Wolfe, awolfe@aph.org

APH is pleased to welcome Alicia Wolfe as our Outreach Regional Specialist for the Southcentral. This position is responsible for creating alone and in collaboration with the Center for Assistive Technology Training (CATT) team and others, professional development opportunities for service providers in the region which will be shared in-person, by webinar or through learning management systems.

Alicia has almost 25 years’ experience as a Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVI) educating individuals of all ages who are blind or visually impaired. Her work history with school districts includes serving as an itinerant teacher, a resource room teacher, and the Lead Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments. She has also served as Lead Evaluation Specialist for a large school district where her primary role was to conduct comprehensive functional vision, learning media, and expanded core curriculum assessments on students who are blind or visually impaired.

During her career, Alicia assisted with piloting the first Transition Program for teens who are blind or visually impaired in Florida and subsequently spent 14 years as the Transition Program Coordinator at a Lighthouse. She is skilled at assessing and identifying the transition needs of students who are blind or visually impaired and in coordinating work-based learning opportunities for those students.

Alicia obtained her National Board Certification as a TSVI and is a trained facilitator of Quality Programs for Students Who Are Visually Impaired (QPVI). Her experience further includes working as an adjunct professor for Florida State University’s Satellite Program in Visual Disabilities, presenting at local, state and national events and writing curriculum and content for the American Foundation for the Blind’s family of websites (now housed with APH). Alicia holds a Master of Science in Visual Disabilities with a specialization in Rehabilitation Teaching from Florida State University. She is excited to share her craft knowledge and learn from the service providers in her region.
