Getting to Know You: A Social Skills and Ability Awareness Curriculum
Engage both visually impaired and sighted children in an interactive curriculum designed to promote awareness and understanding of how visually impaired individuals develop social skills.
Designed for educators and families, this kit contains a curriculum that engages visually impaired students with their sighted age-mates in activities that promote social competence and awareness of the ways in which visually impaired students learn social skills. Each lesson takes 30-45 minutes to complete and contains a clearly stated objective, skills addressed, an introduction, a list of materials needed, and a step-by-step explanation of the activities. An icon at the top of each page identifies whether a lesson is about social skills, ability awareness, or a combination of the two.
