Product Updates and Upgrades

The EZee Count Abacus has a black and red frame and bright red and yellow counting pieces. Some of the pieces have been moved to show a counting example.

APH is always working to produce new technology and improve what already exists to ensure we are serving the APH community in the best way possible. After listening to the people who interact with these products on a daily basis and with ever-changing technology, there is always room for improvement. We strive to keep you informed about any and all updates or enhancements to our products.

TactileView, a fully accessible tactile drawing software, is now available for individual purchase on Federal Quota from APH!  Designed for both beginners and professionals who are interested in developing their own tactile drawings, TactileView allows users to create and edit tactile graphics with ease, access a library of premade tactile graphics, and convert images to embossed designs. TactileView version 3.0 is optimized to create tactile graphics for Monarch or for embossing with embossers like PageBlaster.

A new APH release, Monarch Masking Frame is an orange plastic frame designed to help students transition from paper tactile graphics to viewing larger graphics on the Monarch. Mimicking the perimeter of the Monarch’s tactile display, the goal of this tool is to introduce students to the navigation skills they need to eventually view a larger tactile graphic on a smaller tactile surface.

The Tactile Periodic Table is an accessible learning tool designed to support independent exploration of the periodic table of the elements and support equity in the classroom. Durable and portable, this is the same kind of periodic table poster you would expect to see in any chemistry classroom, except with tactile lines, braille labels, and high contrast colors. The Nemeth version has been released and a UEB version is coming in 2026!

EZee Count Abacus is specially designed with two-textured beads and a large frame to accommodate the needs of students who are blind or low vision. Due to popular demand the guidebook has been updated and is now available as a free download

The Contrast Sensitivity Kit, developed by Good-Lite for low vision users, is a new supplementary assessment tool that can be used in conjunction with NewT and FVLMA kits. Focusing on functional vision and contrast sensitivity to help educators and families better understand a student’s abilities, particularly in challenging conditions like low light or glare, the kit will include LEA Symbol Charts and a test for quickly measuring low contrast visual acuity at 25%, 10%, 5%, 2.5%, and 1.25% contrast by measuring the distance at which the symbols are seen. The kit also includes a guide, recording form, and video, as well as guidance on calculating visual acuity (VA) and a conversion table for Snellen equivalent VA values.
